Dr. John Podoba was born in Montreal, Canada. He studied medical sciences and went on to complete his PhD at McGill University in 2005. That same year, he also received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (with distinction) in Painting and Drawing from Concordia University.
Through his emotive abstract and abstract figurative artworks, Dr. Podoba tries to illicit emotional reactions in the viewer using abstraction and colour. Working in acrylic, charcoal, watercolour and mixed media, on canvas, paper and wood, Dr. Podoba creates emotionally charged artworks often dealing with themes of memory, isolation and loss.
